Advantages, Production Process and Precautions of Eight-side Sealed Pouches
The eight-side sealed pouch is a new type of packaging bag developed in recent years, evolved from the stand-up pouch, and is commonly referred to as the “eight-side seal bag”. Its advantages are as follows:
Stable standing & large capacity: It stands steadily, and has a larger storage capacity than other bags of the same size, which helps protect products from extrusion and deformation.
Rich printing content: Featuring a five-surface and nine-seal edge structure, it offers abundant printing space with more well-defined layout modules compared with other packaging bags. It allows for a comprehensive presentation of product information, facilitating product promotion and sales.
Strong visual appeal: The eight-side sealed bag boasts a novel design and a prominent three-dimensional effect. It brings a fresh visual experience that stands out from conventional packaging bags, easily capturing consumers’ attention and boosting sales promotion.
Reusable design: Equipped with a zipper closure alongside the eight-side seal, the bag’s reusability is enhanced.

Precautions for Eight-side Sealed Bags
- Dimensions: The maximum bottom dimension and length of the eight-side sealed bag should not exceed 38 cm. According to practical tests, its load-bearing capacity is recommended to be controlled within 10 kg as much as possible. The load-bearing force of the eight-side sealed bag is mainly borne by the bag bottom, whose load-bearing performance is inherently limited; the improvement effect is negligible even with an enhanced lamination strength, which is a structural limitation of the eight-side seal design.
- Plate quantity: For the eight-side sealed bag, printing can be done either simultaneously on the front and back sides or separately on each side. Thus, two sets of gravure printing plates are required for each bag (only one set is needed if both sides are blank). It is therefore recommended that customers minimize the color count (generally no more than three colors) and arrange more product information on the front and back sides for printing. The total plate quantity for the eight-side sealed bag is the sum of plates made for separate front/back printing and plates for simultaneous double-side printing.
- Side printing tolerance: Dimensional deviation is inevitable during the bag making process. In the case of full-page printing, the printed content may be covered by the seal during the sealing process. Therefore, the sealing margin should be taken into account in the design stage to improve the fault tolerance of the eight-side sealed bag.
